GRESHAM, Oregon – It was only fitting that the Gresham GreyWolves inaugural season was book-ended by two WCL Player of the Week awards for two of the club’s All-Stars. With Jeffrey Mitchell Jr. earning the accolade in the first week of the season, fellow outfielder Ryan Smith earned the nod in the final week of the season. The West Coast League made the announcement of Smith’s selection on Monday afternoon, one night after the end of the GreyWolves’ first season as a franchise.
From the League Release
Smith finished the season leading the WCL in on base percentage (.448). For the week, the senior-to-be registered a .656 on base percentage and went 10-for-21 with 10 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, 9 walks and 4 stolen bases.
The senior-to-be Saluki led the West Coast League in walks with 35, was second in doubles (11), runs (34) and hits (56) and was third in hitting with a .320 batting average.
