Gresham, Ore. -- After dropping the first two games of the series, the Gresham GreyWolves defeated the Bend Elks 7-6 on Monday evening at Oslund Field in Gresham, Oregon.

Gresham moved ahead of Bend early with a run in the second inning when Tyler Parker scored from third base with two outs on a balk. Jackson Overlund struck out on the very next pitch to end the inning.

The Elks responded with a run in the third inning on three hits against Gresham starter Andrew Hansen. Gresham re-took the lead with another run in the third inning when Drew Curtis hit his sixth home run of the season. Hansen put a couple more zeroes on the board after that, and Gresham's offense began to click. The GreyWolves scored two more times in the fourth when Overlund doubled in Conner Bock and Cole Weaver. Gresham scored again in the fifth inning to push the lead to 5-1.

Bend would not go away though. With two on and two out in the sixth against Hansen, Zach Clayton hit his first home run of the season to bring the Elks within one run. Hansen would record the final out of the inning, but that'd be all for the starter. He went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out one. He ultimately received a no-decision for his efforts.

Ryan Mets relieved Hansen in the seventh inning and the Elks homered again, this time a two-run shot by Derek Chapman to give the Elks their first lead of the game, 6-5.

In the seventh, Jake Palmer singled in Jackson Thoreson to tie the game at six. After reliever Carter Buuck threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning, the GreyWolves took the lead when Mike Peabody scored from third base on a wild pitch. Buuck stayed in and pitched the ninth and kept the Elks off the board to seal the deal on his first win of the season.

The win salvages one win in the series against the Elks, and the GreyWolves avoid being swept for the third time this season. Gresham has just three games left in the regular season and after being eliminated from the playoffs after Sunday's loss, Gresham will not play postseason baseball.

The GreyWolves host the Port Angeles Lefties for a three-game series beginning on Wednesday after a day off on Tuesday. Wednesday is Host Family Appreciation Night and Friday is free admission for all. All three games will be broadcast on
